Step 1: Salvation

Life After Death

People often wonder what happens after this life is over. We as Christians believe that there is life after death. We call it eternity and there is nothing more important in this life than to know where you will spend eternity.

The Bible teaches there are two places where you can spend eternity. The first is Heaven, where everything is perfect the way God intended. The other is hell, a place of punishment for those who have rejected God.

Here we will show you how to gain eternal life, the life you will have for eternity.

Eternal life requires entering into a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Whoever believes in God’s Son can have eternal life. He is all you need.

Some people hope that they will receive eternal life with God, but you can know you have it. If you aren't sure that you have eternal life with God, then read this and know for certain where you will spend your eternity.

Our Need of Salvation

Our Need

No matter how good we have been, in God’s eyes we are all sinners. The Bible tells us, “for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23 Then none of us are good. God is holy and just and must punish us, as a result we deserve death and hell, “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23

God Provides

God loves us despite of our sins and sent His Son Jesus Christ to save us. “For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 I Peter 3:18 “Christ suffered for our sins once for all time. He never sinned, but he died for sinners to bring you safely home to God.” Jesus died on a cross that we might be saved and was raised from the grave that we might have eternal life. Romans 4:25 “He was handed over to die because of our sins, and he was raised to life to make us right with God.” In John 14:6 Jesus says, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”

Our Response

The only way Jesus can give us eternal life is if we receive Him by believing. “But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.” John 1:12

We start receiving Him by repenting of our sins, “Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away.” Acts 3:19

Repentance is not just feeling sorry for sin, “all must repent of their sins and turn to God—and prove they have changed by the good things they do. Acts 26:20 Repentance is turning away from our sin and turning to God.

Next we must place our faith in Jesus, “God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done. Ephesians 2:8

Faith is not just believing the facts about Jesus, “You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this.” James 2:19 Faith is trusting in Jesus and what He has done.

Then to fully receive him, we must surrender, “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.” Romans 10: 9-10 Surrendering is not just saying we give our lives to Jesus, “Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually believe and confessed will enter into heaven. Those who are saved want to identify with Jesus. The way to identify with Jesus is to confess our faith in Jesus publicly and follow Him in baptism and church membership.

Are You Ready

After reading this do you know where you stand with God? Do you know where you will spend eternity?

What would you say to enter into heaven?

Is there any reason why you would not be willing to accept God’s Gift of eternal life?

Are you willing to turn from your sin and place your faith in Jesus right now?

If you are ready then pray the prayer of commitment on the right.

Prayer of Commitment

Dear Lord Jesus… I believe You are the Son of God and died that I might be forgiven of my sins. I know I have sinned. I ask that you forgive me. I turn from my sins and I receive You as my Lord and Savior. Thank You, Lord Jesus for saving me I want to live for You the rest of my life.

If you prayed this prayer, the next step is to find a local body of believers to publicly profess your faith in Jesus and be baptized.
